A Melodic Valentine’s Day - The Glee Club Serenades High School Students!
by Alessandra Arana and Micaela Ledesma
This Valentine's LIA's glee club turned ordinary moments into heartfelt ones with their melodic serenades. A couple of weeks ago, the club sent out a Google Form inviting all High School members to serenade their loved ones. To do so, they provided a list of specific songs split into different categories, including love and romance songs like “Baby” by Justin Bieber, “You Belong With Me” by Taylor Swift, “Despacito” by Luis Fonsi, and “What Makes You Beautiful” by One Direction. They also included “I’ll Be There For You” from the FRIENDS TV Show and “Rata De Dos Patas” by Paquita La Del Barrio to humorously serenade friends.
For just C$50, the serenaded would receive a song, card, and lollipop to remember their memorable moment. Demand was high, and it was reported that the Glee Club received up to 60 orders from one school area alone! Many decided to dedicate them to friends, significant others, siblings, and even teachers. Over the past week, students and staff have seen Glee Club members walking around the halls with a speaker, poster, and many smiles - an exciting initiative to kick off this year’s holidays!
It has been heartwarming to see friends sending gifts and laughs to others and supporting the school’s U18 soccer team during the AASCA tournament. Demand also skyrocketed during the serenade period, as those who initially missed out were eager to order serenades after seeing the Glee Club’s performances.
The Glee club’s Valentine's Day serenades sparked an enjoyable twist to look forward to in the upcoming years’ Valentines. Their performances not only showed a creative spark but also brought a positive energy to the school environment. The serenades were a welcome opportunity for fun amidst the ongoing semester routine. It is safe to say that many are excited to witness what other surprises the Glee club has planned for the student body, and it would be great to know what else students hope to see!

Pink Club Hosts a Heartfelt Tribute for Mothers Battling Cancer
by Claudia Ramirez

In a beautiful act of solidarity and hope, the Pink Club organized a moving ceremony at our school to honor mothers fighting cancer. The event, held during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, was a testament to the power of community and prayer.
The highlight of the event was the recitation of the rosary, dedicated to the brave mothers who are facing or have faced cancer. Students, teachers, and staff gathered to pray together, fostering a sense of unity and support. To make the event even more symbolic, the Pink Club brought a giant rosary made entirely of pink balloons. Each balloon represented a prayer and a message of hope. At the end of the rosary, the balloons were released into the sky, symbolizing our collective wishes for healing and strength to reach those in need.
The school was adorned in pink as students and staff dressed in the signature color of breast cancer awareness. This simple yet powerful gesture was a way to show love, respect, and solidarity with mothers and families affected by the disease.
"This event reminded us of the importance of community, faith, and hope," said a member of the Pink Club. "We wanted to create a space where we could come together to honor these incredible women and show that they are not alone in their fight."
The ceremony served as a powerful reminder of the strength and resilience of those battling cancer, as well as the importance of supporting one another through life’s challenges. The Pink Club’s initiative not only raised awareness but also brought a sense of comfort and unity to the school community.
As the pink balloons floated into the sky, carrying prayers and well-wishes, everyone present felt a renewed sense of hope and determination to stand by those affected by cancer. It was a day to remember, filled with love, faith, and the unshakable belief in a brighter future.
Teachers Appreciation Day
by Charlotte McFadyen
On January 29th, the Lincoln International Academy school community celebrated Teacher's Appreciation Day during Catholic School Week. Teachers were honored and recognized by all the student body through fun activities and heartfelt gifts.
At Lincoln International Academy, teachers are the heart of the school. They not only educate the students but transmit a deep sense of care towards them. For this reason, The National Honor Society (NHS) and Student Council (STUCO) welcomed them with morning coffee to lift their spirits. Students also showed gratitude towards them with baskets with classroom supplies and delicious pastries.
At the end of the school day, all students gathered for a ceremony to appreciate the teachers to the fullest. Teachers were seated together ready to listen, love and laugh. The event started with the LIA Glee Club dedicating a beautiful song, “Summer Nights” from the Grease movie, to acknowledge the hard work that their teachers put in every day for them. Not long after, a group of seniors performed an Irish-styled dance. The audience erupted in laughs and applause as both of these acts finished. Up next, another group of seniors performed "La Macarena" which was an immediate hit as students and teachers joined in to dance along. Last but not least, NHS awarded each teacher with a personalized certificate based on student polls to recognize their unique talents.
Teacher's Appreciation Day was yet another success at Lincoln.
